I've made the switch and things seem ok. (I had a false start when it kernel panicked on install but turns out the new drive, is crap! So I went back my 18GB, always keep a backup ready).

I poked around and little noticed aterm fails to start with aterm: can't load font "k14" (I think that is missing X11 font dep), and pidgin core dumps on me. I'll explore these 2 specifically tomorrow or monday and post in GitHub.

Not sure if I should be worried. this happened after removing 0.0.5 and installing 0.0.7 RPMs on my Indigo2-Impact running 6.5.22:

Bus error (core dumped)
warning: %triggerin(gdk-pixbuf2-2.40.0-5.sgug.mips) scriptlet failed, exit status 138.
ALERT: Process gio-querymodules 2727 generated trap, but has signal 11 held or ignored.

btw, would be cool if ncftp could be included in SGUG-RPM. I often use FTP to transfer files in and out, and ncftp is way more comfortable (directory autocomplete, bookmarks etc) than basic command line ftp. I currently use the neko_ncftp-3.2.3.tardist package from rqsall.com but that one doesn't work on older mips3 machines

Here is the gdk pixbuf2 error again... ( I have added this to GitHub Issues)

It seems to be the trigger
[sgugshell root@saiph /]# gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache
Bus error (core dumped)

Here it in action

[sgugshell root@saiph mips]# rpm --reinstall -ivh gdk-pixbuf2-*.rpm

But it does seem to be installed

saiph 6# rpm -q gdk-pixbuf2

Just reporting my update from 0.0.6 > 0.0.7 went swimmingly. The aterm issue reported by @mgtremaine has been going on since sgug started as far as I know. It's never worked on my system (octane) because of that k14 font error. I looked in to it for quite a while, found the same issue on some other Linux distros which they worked around by forcing aterm to use different fonts etc, but none of those fixes worked on my sgi so I gave up...
