Hi all. This forum has the most recent posts on VW 320s that I can find. Hoping someone here can shine some light on how to proceed.

My 320 used to run. After several years I went to start it up. I realize the cr2032 battery ran out. That of course means the clock needs set. With the dead battery, after changing it, and without a battery the same issue arises:

I know that normally to get to the arcs prom you'd hit escape to set the clock. When starting up however as soon as the 1st screen comes up the error screen not only comes up but continuously scrolls by, and no amount of pushing escape makes any difference. Ive tried dozens of times with multiple 3rd party keyboards and even without a keyboard in case they were causing the scrolling effect. No joy.

The only internet forum post I can find that is partially helpful suggested booting with no cr2032 battery. I also tried this as mentioned above but it didn't solve the problem.

Is there some other way to get that clock set or enter the prom?

That POST clock error might suggest timing or sync issues with system firmware. I had luck stabilizing a similar setup using a controller like the IM5117, which supports complex system buses and improves boot consistency, especially in legacy systems.
Any update?
Edit: Seems not!
