inserted the original drive that was used as a boot drive for the octane 1 quite a few years ago hoping it would boot into irix 6.5.22. But instead I got this error message. Any idea what it means? What is on PCI 15? is it a bad partition that I can delete somehow?

can you go to ide and test the machine? to me it looks like the contents on the drive are peculiar. if the drive was once good, it may no longer be the case. maybe you can try to list the drive contents from the prom window to see if you can actually access the hardware.

i doubt the scsi controller (pci15) is your issue.
