Using one SGI's CD-ROM to network install IRIX 6.5.30 to another

Today I reinstalled IRIX on my Octane using the methods described by Ian Mapleson in this link:




First I had to setup and get the Octane's information:



I had to include this entry in the "/etc/hosts" file:



I had to include this entry in the "/etc/ethers" file:



I had to include this line in the "/etc/bootptab" file:



I had to enter the following lines in the"/etc/inetd.conf" file:




Now I carried on with the network install on the Octane:





As far as the actual IRIX installation goes, here are the things to look out for:

Notice the IP address of the Tezro in the location where the CD's are read from:



You have to type in the following to read the unbundled folder on the Overlay2 CD:



As you can see, this lead to a conflict free install of IRIX 6.5.30:



When the software starts to install, you will get interrupts such as these, when the next CD's are required:



Installation Complete!!!:



And she's now up and running with a perfect IRIX 6.5.30 install:
