To add sound to my new Fuel, I've bought a cheap Audigy 2 which was for sale. An old nekoware forum thread mentioned that some variants of this card should work in IRIX (I'm on 6.5.30).

SoundBlaster Audigy2 Model SB0360 - CA0102-ICT

I've installed the card, IRIX recognizes it, audio control panel shows in- and outputs, media players no longer complain about missing audio device and I've got visible feedback that audio is playing when I open the audio queue monitor.

Everything looks OK, but there is no sound coming out of the jack connectors

it looks like there is just one small thing missing to get it working.. but I'm out of ideas.

Apparently SB0360 is one of the cards that just don't work, while SB0350 reportedly works.
I will get rid of this card and order an M-Audio Revolution.

Right,

this document confirms it is the Audigy2 ZS SB0350 which is supported by Irix.

I also have an external Audigy NX SB0300 (connects through usb) which is recognized by Irix (MAD audio), but I have never connected speakers to it so I could confirm it works. Will have to try that out and update this thread.

Forgot to mention.. I've got an M-Audio Revolution 7.1 now and that one works! (y)
I've already sold the incompatible Audigy2 (with profit) to a Windows mainstream user :D
