Dear All,

anyone still using Softimage in the Maya era? I can find abnormal amount of manuals and tutorials for Maya, but almost nothing for Softimage XSI. The torrent seeds are dead, and only few official manuals are available for XSI...

Thank You for the replies.

Is anyone still playing with XSI, except me? :)

If someone tried to use XSI, maybe noticed it likes to crash very often if something is deleted from the scene. An object, a texture support etc. All versions are affected, including 32 and 64 bit builds, too. Tested on WinXP, Win7.

Have You experienced the same? Or my setup has a problem?

Anyone have an Irix SPM keygen for XSI v3.0?

Trying to launch Softimage3D 3.7 SP1 under IRIX 6.2.

"Cannot successfully map soname 'libsoftgraphic.so'"

In 6.5.2 with Softimage3D 4.0 simply adding a LD_LIBRARY_PATH = /usr/Softimage/Soft3D_4.0/3D/dso/softGraphicOGL resolves the issue (from menu launch it is not needed at all).

But in 6.2, once the LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set, it cannot find libdmedia.so, however it is already added to LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

Anyone resolved this issue?

maybe you have a different binary type. irix has 3 types: the original, old elf is o32. the new is n32 and 64-bit is just 64. that's also used for the variables:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH = o32
LD_LIBRARYN32_PATH = n32
LD_LIBRARY64_PATH = 64

so for example if your softimage is n32 but you set LD_LIBRARY_PATH it's not considered.

The Windows key generator for XSI 3.0 also serves keys for XSI 3.0.1 for IRIX. They even took the time to add XSI 4 for IRIX keys to the Windows key generator for XSI 4, though I don't think XSI 4 was ever released for IRIX. However - the problem is the key generator is time limited to 2012 or thereabout, for some reason. And XSI licensing really does not like to find files with timestamps that do not make sense - so you can't just set back the clock. I managed to get XSI 3 to run on Irix by making an IRIX OS install from scratch, set in 2004, and then servering the license from a Windows VM set to the same year/date... Very finicky.

Thanks for the info, I have V2015 installed on my PC and will leave it as that. Cheers!
