I didn't even realize that these were a thing, until user Unxmall forwarded me a link to a local auction. I got the system cheap and had to drive a couple of hours to pick it up. It booted right up to IRIX (they didn't wipe the drives). It's a totally base system with only 4 CPUs (two nodeboards) and 256M ram. It is the next generation replacement for the Challenge L. I'm looking to get some more RAM for it and maybe a few more nodeboards if I can find them cheap. They are IP31 boards.

"The Origin 2100 is mostly the same as the other models except that it is not upgradeable to other models. (unless the router cards, etc. were replaced)"

I'm liking this system so far, and now i owe Unxmaal a system at some point....
The other stuff in the car are some PC gear I had to take as part of the aution lot. A DLT tape jukebox, Dell SCSI Shelf, and a general Dell mini-desktop. Another bonus is my neighbor, who has moved to another state but kept his house has agreed to let me keep it there. I have not tried to get it into my basement yet.

I was looking at that auction myself, shipping would have been high to get it to Florida...

Glad it is working for you and that someone was able to pick it up and put it to use.

Wow what a nice looking system! I just got a little Octane here by comparison. Hope I can get something like that one day.
