Has any member of SGUG used the MiUSA D&C based in San Diego--- RetroTINK-4K PRO or CE version--- scaler / VGA converter / HDMI device yet ?
Even though they're very KE = Knarly Expensive and designed in the USA but built in CHINA....no generic " Knock-Offs " have been successful seen or made by the Chinese... as yet !
This is NailGun_303 juggling options when running / repurposing / nailing-down a functioning SGI O2 / Octane with connectivity to
a modern 2025 -2026 HDMI 42"inch QLED Smart COLOR TV as a useful Australian HD daily monitor or a back-up option instead of vintage CRT or obsolete SyncMaster flat screens ?
This also includes running a SGI O2 or Octane into a dedicated c2025 Samsung G7 Odyssey curved screen QLED computer color monitor.
Thanks to the great NAIL GOD called THOR-N... we chose PAL not NSTC or that French system.

A RetroTINK is crazy expensive for that particular use case.

The classic option is to find some flavor of used Extron VGA scaler with an HDMI output, though those won't go all the way up to 4K. (Though you probably shouldn't be trying to push an IRIX desktop up to 4K anyway...)

Should I just shop around online for vintage c2000 to 2005... " Plain Jane " LCD 1280 X 1024 4:3 aspect ratio monitor(s)
which are available sometimes for FREE as JUNK or around $10 ?
As you say...the RetroTINK-Pro 4K is really expensive for my application.
Would you say that the O2's were probably connected to CRT-Cathode Ray Tubes of that 1990's era ?

The O2 would have usually been connected to a CRT back in the day, yes. LCD monitors were very uncommon and novel - the SGI 1600SW monitor would have been a period-correct option if you'd wanted an LCD back then, but it requires an adapter board if you want to use it with an O2.

YES !!...you're so correct CiaoTime with the adapter board. Only last week while on SAFARI ...I came across a SGI 1600SW monitor.
However...missing all it's STAND / Legs. Only the screen available and had damage.
I'll let you know if I nail-down another 1600SW fully operational with its stand / legs.
While I have your attention: Your photos:
The SGI MultiLink Adapter (MLA): A separate, " external converter box " released by SGI. It accepts standard analog VGA or digital DVI inputs and translates them into the OpenLDI signal for the monitor.
According to your digital photo the " Adapter Card " shown appears to be an internal card that slots inside the O2 or Octane---and I assume to the internal grfx-graphics board....is that correct ?

Yeah, you'll need an adapter of some sort to use the O2 with a 1600SW. Either the Flat Panel Adapter that sits internally inside the O2, or the MultiLink box, either one would work. The one I posted in the marketplace channel is a different thing entirely.

Well things are HOT & 303 ....nail tracing to target " .
I have a new contact ! And with a North American Monika poohead, located in Ca. who has a SGI 1600SW monitor with all
the peripheral you mentioned CiaoTime ! The caveat is that the 1600SW has to warm-up and there are signs of
what appears to be, DP - Dead Pixels on lower right bottom real estate. He says that the effect clears up after a few minutes of warm-up and that the
converter / multi-link may need recapping---- which is the cause of DP.
I just have to save some nails and buy it and have it shipped to OZ....
I have recently acquired genuine parts / PS2 peripherals that the O2 will read correctly. Both are brand spanking new nails in box.
Because they've never been used ! Yes a genuine neo Silicon Graphics SGI German QWERTZ keyboard and really "no big deal"
for I/O. Plus a genuine SGI ol' skool ROLLER AS43 Mouse which I've seen advertised for ridiculous amounts of money on eBay.
I paid a FAIR price.
Just astute online SGI nail shopping on my part. Plenty of vintage SGI nails available in 2026 at
a NON VULGAR price point compared to c1996 when these machine series were networked in very large numbers and estimated to cost
between 20 - $50,000USD LARGE 4-EACH !!....mainly used in north America. SGI developed all the software inhouse.
My O2 came from a former KODAK executive---- surprisingly he looked after it. I've seen so many wounded, damaged & naked
O2 & Octane machines while on SAFARI this month.
My caveat is that WHALES in this forum are not to be confused with the CASINO version and how they go about targeting other WHALES in 2026.
I refer here to Boeing, FORD, GM Hollyweed etc. not to mention the casino type of whales like Kerry Packer aka " the Goanna " .
The Australian WHALE that had every casino in Las Vegas running for cover when he flew in to town to gamble....played 6 - SIX .....count them SIX roulette tables at the same time. Big Time Spender & TIPPER to all the casino croupiers & staff.
Here in Australia the bookies at the track like at Royal Randwick would literally " run a mile " when the goanna / reptile turned up
placing $1Mil AUD bets on the nose for a win !
SPACE-X would be a prime example of a 2020's WHALE company with latest IPO @ 150 - $190USD / share depending on offering(s).
So what AI hardware & software is SPACE-X networked with in 2026 ? How much are the machines valued at now and will
depreciate too in 2056 ?
How much has " Captain my Captain " paid out for the new SPACE-X AI Data NRG Center HUB into low earth orbit with 100Ton HEAVY payload launch capabilities ? What does a STARLINK computer / desktop look like in 2026 ?....is it a DELL clone ?


I have not seen another SGI SW1600 monitor for a very long time online through my Wedge-Tail-Eagle NailGun303 optical sights anywhere...
wish me LOL with poohead9239 on acquisition... life's a gamble ?
