Nowadays a lot of flatpanel monitors still support Sync-on-Green. However, although a specific model may have support for SoG, we don't always find that support written in the specs or printed on the box.
To be put in the specs, the monitor vendors would have to test and qualify the feature, and that costs money. It's safe to assume the user base asking for that feature is too small to justify the cost.

That's why I'd like to list a few flatscreen monitors that support Sync-on-Green (SoG) and work well with my Octane 2:
DELL 1913S : LED 19" 1280x1024 https://www.dell.com/ae/business/p/dell-p1913s/pd
DELL U2410 : LED IPS 24" 1920x1200 https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-ultrasharp-u2410/specs/
(All these Dell monitors have the same mount for a little active sound bar https://www.ebay.com/itm/202591009018 that I find handy)

Further, as a rule of thumb for finding a working monitor: if a vendor supported SoG in an earlier generation of the product, and the new product still has a VGA port, chances are good that SoG is supported. Dell, EIZO, Samsung and LG are good candidates.

Some monitors on 15kHz - make sure to check the Sync-on-Green column!
Some monitors on a Playstation 2 forum - these folks have the same issue and require SoG

Edit: With apologies, I no longer wish to have involvement with SGUG or SGI communities in general,
and have also chosen to remove all of my content. Many things have changed since I co-founded, named, and ultimately
then left SGUG. There are many good people around, to whom I apologize for frustrating by removing these things, and
also many petty people that over the years whittled down both the enjoyment as well as sense of obligation I used to
feel to anyone else regarding what was ultimately just a hobby. Unfortunately one of the latter now writes the rules
and so it is time for me to take my things and go.

This message will replace all of my previous forum posts because deleting threads that I started would have removed
other peoples' posts.

I have a BENQ GW2780 running at 1600x1200@75Hz on my Octane 2.

Just works, good affordable modern monitor.
