Although I've been able to successfully run games in DosBox with sound, Windows 3.11 didn't have a sound driver installed and therefore no system sounds or sound media could be accessed in Windows.
After doing some searching, I came across this site:
Which firstly has the link to the appropriate Creative SoundBlaster 16 driver file for DosBox, but also has a comprehensive set of instructions as to how to install the driver in such a way, that it will work in Windows 3.11.
I DID HOWEVER HAVE TO INITIATE THE DRIVER INSTALL FROM DOS, AS IT WOULDE'NT INSTALL FROM WITHIN WINDOWS 3.11
Now Windows 3.11 has sound!!!
