Indigo 2 boot error at startup

First time posting on here! It has been a dream of mine since the 90's to own a SGI Indigo 2 since I only ever had access to a remote shell and never got to experience the physical hardware.

I managed to acquire an Indigo 2 R4400 XZ Extreme via a seller. It was shown to work but I am not sure whether something got messed up in the shipping even although it was well packaged.

It does have a hard drive sled with a bootable SCSI disk inside, however whether the sled is slotted in or not the error message at boot remain the same. I attached a picture.

Does anyone perhaps have any tips for a complete newbie to trouble shoot this issue ?

Press any button, then I assume you are shown a screen with options including "start system." Click "enter command monitor" and type hinv and then put a photo of the results here - that will show you if the had drive is detected or not

I added some more photos. Like I say, whether the hard drive sled is in or out, it is the same. It is like it is not recognising the hard drive / sled at all.

Nice system
You are correct, the hard drive should show up hinv. Do you hear it spin up? Have you double checked the connections between sled and hard drive? Are you sure the sled is fully seated?

I do not hear it spin up, I will open it up tomorrow and see what I can see.

If you have trouble getting the drive detected, I would try with a ZuluSCSI or other drive (if you have one) to ensure the scsi bus/sled are working
