HP Hardware Thread

Starting a new thread with my new kit. I'm now the proud owner of a seemingly fully functioning Visualize C180 workstation (180Mhz PA-8000) with 768MB of RAM and a Hyper CRX-24 graphics card.

These machines may not match the external looks of a SGI, but the inside is a work of CNC-milled art. Great accessibility as well.

Oh damn. These tend to be very reliable too. Also, that's a decent amount of memory for doing stuff. Also, apparently gcc is still supported on PA-RISC HP-UX - I would be tempted to build one even though it might take a few days.

That is a cool looking CPU heatsink. In fact, that may be the coolest I've seen.

Also like the board layout on this system. What is that giant connector on the side- is it linking up 2 diffrent half's of a motheboard?

A while back (probably during high school?), I used to have what I think was a HP Apollo 715/75, and then later a C3750.

Sadly I no longer have those, but I do have a C3700. I actually like the C3700 form factor a lot more than the C8000 with the wide base, and it is still quite a usable system. They pack a lot inside those cases...

I also have one of these, unfortunately I think the power supply is defunct.
