I asked this in the Discord server about a year or 2 ago, but I don't remember the response I got.

Is there a simple way of determining to date your SGI machine was manufactured?

Apparently Dodoid managed to determine the manufacturing date of his Onyx by the serial number. My last four digits of my Indy's serial number are "9726". Maybe the "97" refers to 1997 and the "26" refers to the 26th week of the year.

You can open and check date in the mainboard or cpu module. Usually are signed with the year of design. My Indy cpu module ( R4600PC at 133 Mhz ) have a label with something similar like this "Manufactured by SGI 1993".
