Experiencing the Internet as it was in the 1990s

A friend has just launched his project called Protonet and needs testers & contributors! This cool service allows you to experience the Internet as it was in the last half of 1990s. It is a web proxy that works with old computers (and new!).

This looks great, especially the RasPi modem guide is very useful! The only thing that bugs me is that they use facebook as a forum, not gonna make an account just for that

Very cool, a proxy portal to the 90s! The PPP modem simulator is fun

I wonder where all the content came from! The features list mentions CGI scripts. I can see getting static content (as the page was presented to the crawler) from archive.org, since I have done similar things myself (e.g. the Nekonomicon). But getting the actual CGI scripts behind the content seems like something else...

I should give this a try with the Netscape that comes w/ IRIX 6.5. Maybe we can check off a box or two for them on their OS / browser combination list.
