I can't get MIDI output working on DOSBOX in Irix (Octane).
Midi interface is connected to COM2 (with external synthesizer) and setup in IRIX System Manager.
It's confirmed working in Irix soundplayer, but not in DOSBOX.
Currently in dosbox-0.74.2.conf I have setup
[midi]
mpu401=uart
mididevice=default (tried a few without success)
midiconfig=/dev/midi
Starting dosbox, it says MIDI: Opened device:none
Inside dosbox, I have looked mixer /listmidi, nothing there.
UPDATE:
When changing MIDI configuration to:
midiconfig=/dev/ttymidi2 (this is where the interface is connected to)
I don't get the startup message 'MIDI:Opened device:none' anymore.
Instead it says 'MIDI:Opened device oss'
Still, 'mixer /listmidi' comes up empty and any DOS progs won't play out on the external MIDI port.
What am I missing?
