Greetings.
I have a small collection of vintage UNIX workstations that initially started with a purchase of NeXT Cube around 1993 (I have been active for many years on nextcomputers.org under the same handle). My collection includes two quad 700 MHz Tezro machines that I purchased around 2011. I believe that they were used with Flame by a local visual effects outfit before they were retired. I knew nothing about IRIX at the time, but with some help from Nekochan and online documentation I succeeded in reinstalling IRIX on both machines and exploring them for nearly a year. Then my son was born and both machines were stored in my house.
Fast forward to today. I am in the process of trying to rationalize my collection as it is taking up significant amount of storage space. I very much want to keep the Tezros, but it is extremely unlikely that I will have any reasonable amount of time to devote to them. While recently looking through online forums for possible solutions to temperamental booting (drained SNAPHATs), I also realized that working Tezros are hard to find. After a long internal struggle, I think I am potentially prepared to have someone convince me that I need to let them go to a good place, where they will have more time devoted to them.
I have replaced SNAPHATs in both machines and they are no longer temperamental when booting. One does seem to have a somewhat tired Dallas chip since L1 does not come up on the first plug-in, but always comes up after I unplug and replug the power. Both machines have run without any issues over the last few days. One is equipped with 8GB of RAM and the second one with 6GB. They both have dual display V12 options and DM3 cards. One is in very good cosmetic condition with few small scuffs on the plastic. The second one has more scuffs on the plastic. No plastic panels are broken or cracked, but there is some darkening of plastic panels due to oxidation over the years. The machines are extremely clean with no dust, no rust, no dents, etc. I will supply additional information, hinv output, serials, photos, etc. over the next few days if there is interest.
I am located in Ontario, Canada. Would much prefer not to ship due to size, weight and fragility, but I understand that finding someone interested locally is unlikely.
Thank you.
