Greetings,

Me, Northsky and another friend of mine with a couple of SGIs have contemplated the idea of throwing an SGI LAN party somewhere in Finland. Basic plan: figure out who's coming, decide on a weekend that suits everybody, rent a cottage (preferably with a sauna and a lake next to it), get everyone there -> instant fun?

We can bring a 24-port switch plus a 4G router for decent-speed Internet connectivity and hack on stuff, play Quake or XPilot or whatever, possibly have a couple of beers and discuss SGIs and stuff.

This would probably happen in late May or sometime in June - that should give a rather good chance of decent weather.

So, first we should gather a list of interested people. Reply to this thread if the idea does not sound entirely terrifying and you have a means of arriving to Finland. We can pick you and your stuff from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport or possibly Turku harbour as well.

I would definitely be interested!

hi
we at DTB have recently dropped a lot of projects SGI-related and we are managing a couple of projects that are Linux /PPC and Linux/MIPS based, but it would be great exposing them in a physical place. There will be also a big event in Australia, Dunno if we will ever participate, but it would be definitively great!

p.s.
this forum is superfast!

Hi,
A LAN party at a cottage sounds like a great idea. I'm located in Tampere region so southern Finland should be easily accessible.

Oh yeah, so looks like we have at least five possible participants.

I'll set up a Doodle for this as soon as I have my own schedule figured out for the next couple of months.
